Meet the Jury of Balticbest 2017 Creative Competition

Balticbest 2017 jury:
Eka Ruola, President of Balticbest 2017 jury, CEO and ECD at hasan & partners Group (Finland)

Eka Ruola is one of the most awarded creative directors in Finland both nationally and internationally. He is currently the Executive Creative Officer at a 25-year old marketing communications agency hasan & partners, but while most creatives are happy to remain creative, Eka has gone further, taking on the business leadership mantle as the group CEO too. In that role he’s helped the agency to become one of the leading marketing communications networks in the Nordics.

Today, hasan & partners Group consists of 5 agencies in 3 countries and 150 professionals from 15 nationalities. The group includes Finland’s top creative marketing agency hasan & partners, Hasan Communications, world famous digital agency Perfect Fools and consumer insight agency Frankly Partners. By now, hasan & partners is one of the most awarded agencies in Northern Europe and for 4 consecutive years hasan & partners has been voted the #1 advertising agency in Finland. Eka is an experienced jury member in creative award shows around the world. In 2017, for example, he sits in LIA Awards and One Show juries.

Sedir Ajeenah, Copywriter and Partner, Garbergs (Sweden)

Sedir Ajeenah is a partner and a copywriter at Garbergs ad agency in Stockholm, Sweden. Sedir has brought impressive ideas to the global advertising scene and his passion for innovation and technological advances has earned him a spot as one of the most exciting young creatives to keep your eyes on. His work has been recognized in Cannes Lions, Eurobest, One Show to mention a few. Sedir has been a member of Garbergs team for more than five years now but in the past he has also worked in media and sales. He loves american football, food and zombies.

Sedir was Entertainment category jury member at Eurobest 2016 and belongs to Mobile jury at this year’s Cannes Lions.

Clare McNally, Strategic Brand Creator & Creative Director at Konstellation & Republica (Denmark)

Clare McNally is a Strategic Brand Creator at Konstellation & Republica in Copenhagen. She builds brand platforms for a range of diverse clients from supermarket chains to bicycles. Previously, she was a copywriter at a variety of international advertising agencies including TBWA Hunt Lascaris Johannesburg and 180 Amsterdam. Her work has won international recognition at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, D&AD, The One Show, Archive and Shots. Clare has a passion for inspiring and championing young creative talent. She has taught and lectured in Miami, London, Berlin, Johannesburg and Copenhagen and been an Associate Professor at the Creative Communication course at the Danish School of Media & Journalism (DMJX) where she is currently a guest lecturer in Creative Strategy, Art Direction and Brand Creation. Her students have won or been shortlisted at all the major student awards, from the Cream Portfolio Competition to Future Lions and D&AD New Blood – Clare believes that active engagement with the next generation keeps her own cynicism at bay and allows for an extremely positive outlook on the industry’s future. Clare is a jury member of DIA Future Awards. She has also judged at Eurobest Awards in 2016.

Clare belongs to the Design jury of Cannes Lions 2017.

Indrek Viiderfeld, Founder & Creative Director at Tabasco (Estonia)

Indrek Viiderfeld is the owner and Creative Director of Estonian ad agency Tabasco. In 2016 Tabasco was awarded with the “Agency of the Year” title in Estonia and also ranked number 1 Estonian agency in “Baltic Agency Ranking”. Indrek started his career in advertising in 1998 as a freelance copywriter, but soon worked his way up. Before founding Tabasco in 2009, Indrek worked as Creative Director at TBWA Estonia and Indigo Bates. He has received numerous awards for his work and has also sat in several award competition juries himself – for example at Ad Black Sea, Yerevan International Communications, White Square, KIAF, etc.

Kristaps Silins, CEO and partner at McCann Riga (Latvia)

Kristaps spots what others overlook and does what others wouldn't. He ruthlessly scraps the irrelevant to highlight what matters, be it a brand strategy or a new way to build business. His approach is careful and considerate, while his radically minimalist strategies do sting hard. Especially if you're a competitor to a brand he's working for. Kristaps has been the CEO of McCann Riga for more than two years now, responsible for reinventing the business and leading the new strategic direction of the agency. Before the current position, he worked as a Strategy Director at DDB Worldwide Latvia.

Pavel Fuksa, Creative Director, graphic designer and illustrator (Czech Republic)

Pavel Fuksa is a graphic designer and illustrator tor from Czech Republic. He started his career in 2004 when started working as Art Director at Saatchi & Saatchi Prague. From there he moved on to agencies like Kaspen, Uncle and Jandl. His latest positions have included Creative Director at Labstore / Y&R Prague and Creative Director at JWT Cairo and JWT Dubai. At the moment he works as an independent graphic designer and his clients portfolio includes brands like Independent, Pepsi, Microsoft, ESPN, Google, American Express, Twitter, Facebook, VEVO, Greenpeace, Mercedes, Budweiser and Intel. Pavel’s works have been recognized at Shots, Lürzers Archive, Computer Arts, BAOT, Die Zeit, IdN, Creative Review or Motiongrapher. He has been selected amongst 200 Best Illustrators worldwide in 2014 and 2016 by Lürzer's Archive.

Marjan Novak, Publisher, General Manager and Editor-in-Chief at Marketing Magazin (Slovenia)

Marjan Novak has been the Publisher, General Manager and Editor-in-chief at Marketing Magazin since 2008. Marjan started his media & marketing career in late 1980s and has since then held different managerial positions across the sector. Before Marketing Magazin, he had worked for companies like Europlakat, Metropolis Media and Media Polis. In the past he has also organized Slovenian Advertising Festival and during 2014-2015 he was the General Manager of IAB Slovenia. Marjan has been a long-time juror at EPICA Awards - he has been representing Slovenia in the jury for eight consecutive years now.

Tomas Markauskas, Creative Director at New! Creative Agency (Lithuania)

Tomas Markauskas is a creative director and a creative copywriter in New! Agency, Vilnius. For a decade in the buisness. A couple of works recognized internationally and a many locally. The greatest (of personal importance): a significant contribution to earning the “Client of year” title for the client. Fun facts: played in Petanque world championship, studied philosophy for 6 years, chooses not to speak unless can contribute to the conversation or threatened, maintans love and hate relationship with DIY audio electronics.
